Mother’s Day Ideas & Gifts to make the Day Special

Below you will find my favorite ideas & gifts to make this Mother’s Day very special. Whether it is for your Mom, Grandma, or your mother figure, I hope you find something to try this Mother’s Day! There are so many ways to say I love you besides the same mugs & chocolates they provide us every year.

Breakfast

Make a nice breakfast for her, full of her favorite breakfast foods. It doesn’t even have to be homemade I’ve used muffin mixes many times; it’s easier & gives you more time to spend with her. Below are some ideas I have tried before. (I also usually decorate the table with pretty plates, napkins, a tablecloth, & bouquet of spring flowers.)

  • Muffins or bread

  • Eggs (my Mom loves spinach eggs with mozzarella cheese)

  • Fresh fruit

  • Crepes (add Nutella & her favorite fruit)

  • Pancakes or waffles (add blueberries, chocolate chips, strawberries on top or in. And of course, whipped cream)

  • Cinnamon Rolls (the Bake House Creations Cinnamon Rolls from Aldi’s are the best!)

Gifts

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Heartfelt gifts & acts of kindness are what mean the most. Thoughtful gifts are those in which you find a creative gift that fits what they love or love to do.

  • If she loves to garden, flowers she can plant or seeds, if she loves crafting find craft supplies in her favorite medium or find a decorative item that fits her favorite hobby.

  • Or make her basket with things all in one color such as snacks, candles, books, notebooks, & decor. (I did this for my Grandma one year & she loved it)

  • Movie snack basket full of her favorite treats & of course popcorn.

  • Make a room special for her, add candles or artwork. My mom has always been more focused on us then making her bedroom more pretty, so I sometimes like to add a little something to make it more cheery.

  • Are her favorite desserts brownies or cookies? If it is brownies buy her favorite ice cream to pair with it and add sauces such as raspberry, chocolate, or caramel. Cookies? Does she like classic chocolate chip cookies, does she like peanut butter, or white chocolate chips or M&Ms. Also, you can add nuts if she likes them.

  • Pick wildflowers for her

  • Make your own edible arrangement of chocolate covered strawberries (or any fruit she likes) All you need is: strawberries, chocolate, food safe dowels with a pointed end, floral foam, & a vase.

  • Writing a heartfelt note telling her how much she means to you can sometimes be the best gift of all.

  • Print off photos & make a photo album full of your favorite pics from this year or memories over the span of many years.

  • The best gift you can give is quality time, spending the day having fun & making memories. Even if you do not live close to each other call or facetime it means the world! (Ideas for quality time below)

Cards

Homemade cards are the best, it is ok if you are not great with crafts, she won’t mind since it is from you. If you don’t have time to make a card, make sure to write a very thoughtful message it means a lot.

  • If I’m running out of inspiration, I find ideas for Mother’s Day cards on Pinterest, YouTube, or under the hashtag #mothersdaycards on Instagram there are so many new ideas out there.

  • Add a special quote or poem

Quality Time

  • Take a walk, go for a hike, or bike ride

  • Go to an event in your area, such as a craft show, flower festival, or u-pick flowers

  • Plan to take a class together, such as a cooking class, baking class, or a drawing or crafting class

  • Go for spa day, massage or nails

  • Have a movie night with lots of snacks & treats

  • Bake or cook something together

Ideas for Kids to do

  • Have them make & decorate a Happy Mother’s Day! paper sign to hang where she can see it when she wakes up. (This is a tradition we have continued to this day, above is one my sister & I did when we were younger)

  • Have them help make mom her special breakfast

  • Have them pick out or make a special gift (Some homemade gifts include drawing a picture to frame, decorating an apron with the prints of their hands & feet, or painting an object such as a vase)

  • Have them make or decorate a special card for her

  • Have older kids write an acronym for Mother or Grandma (Below is one I did when I was little lol)

  • Have them pick out flowers for her

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms, Grandmas, & mother-figures out there!!! I hope you have a wonderful day!🌷🌼💕
